Inside a neurologist’s $7.8 mil landed home: Two V-ZUG kitchens redefining modern living

When Dr KK Queck bought his first landed home, he was prepared to invest a significant sum in renovations to make the space his own.

What he did not expect was how little he would need to do.

The 42-year-old neurologist had spent years living in a condo, but eventually found himself looking for more space. He wanted a home that could comfortably accommodate his three cocker spaniels, while also giving him enough room to host family and friends.

The neurologist viewed between five and seven properties before deciding on a $7.8 million semi-detached home developed by Sevens Group.

"I wanted something functional," says Queck. "The layout was square and the space could be fully utilised."

As the house was bought directly from the developer, many of its key features were already in place. The kitchen, bathrooms and core finishes had already been completed, allowing Queck to focus his renovation budget on selected areas of the home rather than starting from scratch.

"The house already came with most of what I needed, so I didn't have to do very much," says Queck, adding that he limited the renovation works only to the living area, master bedroom, and converted a junior master bedroom into a study.

However, there was one area he deliberately chose not to alter: the kitchen.

Kitchens worth keeping

The home came with two kitchens: a wet kitchen for heavier cooking and an open-plan kitchen for entertaining. Both came fitted with a suite of premium built-in appliances from Swiss appliance manufacturer V-ZUG.

The wet kitchen came with a FoodCentre V2000 refrigerator with an ice and water dispenser, a 70cm three-burner black glass gas cooktop, as well as a cooker hood.

"While I reimagined and renovated other areas of the house to inject my personal aesthetic, the kitchen layout and its existing V-ZUG appliances were the columns I refused to touch," he says.
