New Wetlands by the Bay Development at Gardens by the Bay
The attraction and improved connectivity could strengthen Marina Bay’s waterfront appeal, potentially increasing visitor activity and benefiting the surrounding precinct.
Wetlands by the Bay will begin construction in Q1 2027 and progressively open by end 2028, featuring more than 600 mangroves and coastal plants.

As part of its next phase of development, Gardens by the Bay will introduce a new space, Wetlands by the Bay, marking a new chapter in the Gardens’ evolving offerings and creating additional spaces for visitors to enjoy and explore.
To be completed in phases, Wetlands by the Bay will feature:
1) Expanding the Footprint of Kingfisher Wetlands
There will be more than 600 mangroves and coastal plants at Wetlands by the Bay — tripling the current collection at the Kingfisher Wetlands precinct and strengthening biodiversity within the area.
2) Cantilevered Canopy Boardwalk
A striking cantilevered canopy boardwalk will extend over the Kingfisher Wetlands, offering visitors an elevated, over-water encounter with nature. The boardwalk will also enhance connectivity between Gardens by the Bay MRT station and key attractions within Bay South Garden.
3) New Dedicated Area for Events and Community Activities
A new community space, Glade Lawn will serve as a dedicated area within Wetlands by the Bay for events and community activities for visitors to connect, relax and recharge.
4) A New Immersive Nature Experience
Together with international art collective teamLab, multi-sensory pedal kayak experience will debut at Gardens by the Bay in their flagship museum. Blending installations with natural landscapes, the experience will take visitors on a journey through wetlands habitats.
Construction for Wetlands by the Bay is slated to begin in the first quarter of 2027, with progressive opening targeted by end 2028. It will open in tandem with Bay East Garden, collectively offering visitors an integrated and immersive experience as they explore the waterfront gardens around Marina Reservoir.

Wetlands by the Bay is part of the next phase of Gardens by the Bay’s development. It has been 13 years since Gardens by the Bay opened in 2012, and it is timely for a major new nature-based attraction, developed in tandem with the new Bay East Garden and Founders’ Memorial, as well as the bridge linking Bay South and Bay East Gardens.
Taken together, these new attractions will enhance the Marina Bay precinct, creating an exciting and world-class waterfront experience.
Wetlands by the Bay fulfils Gardens by the Bay’s dual objectives to be a national garden for Singaporeans to enjoy and must-visit destination for overseas visitors. It is a destination by itself with mass appeal, and will bring city-dwellers closer to the wetlands experience – in line with Gardens by the Bay’s mission to make nature appealing to a broad audience.
teamLab flagship museum offers the first-of-its-kind, immersive and multi-sensory paddle kayak experience amidst a wetlands setting that can only be experienced at Gardens by the Bay.
