Wee Hur makes student housing foray in Singapore with 1,398 new beds at NTU
The project signals confidence in postgraduate accommodation demand and could expand institutional housing supply while giving Wee Hur a long-term recurring income stream in Singapore.
Wee Hur will develop a 1,398-bed PBSA at NTU, targeting construction from the third quarter of 2027 and operations by the 2029/2030 academic year.

Body
Wee Hur Holdings Ltd is entering Singapore’s purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scene — building on its experience in the segment across Australia and Hong Kong.
It will design, build, finance, operate and maintain a new property with about 1,398-beds at Nanyang Technology University's (NTU) main campus in the west of Singapore.
The property will house mainly postgraduate students, with a limited number of beds for undergraduates. It will be the first asset in Singapore managed under Y Suites, Wee Hur’s PBSA brand.

NTU has issued a letter of award for the project in respect of the Singapore-listed company’s proposal submitted on Sept 13, after an expression-of-interest and request-for-proposal process.
The award is subject to terms and conditions, and the parties are working towards finalising the definitive agreement for the project, Wee Hur said in an Oct 16 release.
Construction is targeted to begin in the third quarter of 2027, before operations are expected to commence by the start of the 2029/2030 academic year. That is subject to the relevant NTU and regulatory approvals.
When completed, the PBSA is expected to be Singapore’s largest privately developed and operated student accommodation facility within an autonomous university campus.
It will sit next to 30 Nanyang Link, the university’s former Hall of Residence 7, which is temporarily housing students from Hall of Residence 1 while the latter undergoes renovation.
The greenfield site for the new PBSA measures about 6,000 sq m (64,583 sq ft).
An initial 20-year land lease will be granted, with an option to extend for two five-year terms, subject to the terms and conditions of the definitive agreement.

Wee Hur has experience across the PBSA lifecycle, spanning greenfield development, construction, investment and operations.
Goh Chengyu, CEO, Wee Hur Property, noted that the NTU project adds to the group's development pipeline, provides further visibility to its construction activities and, when completed, will contribute a long-term recurring income stream.
Goh Wee Ping, Wee Hur Holdings chief investment officer and Wee Hur Capital CEO, said: "Having established our PBSA platform in Australia and expanded into Hong Kong, bringing Y Suites home to Singapore marks an important step in our ambition to build a regional PBSA platform across Asia Pacific."
